“Some paintings don’t start as an idea. They start as a feeling… a bit of stardust in the ribs.”

— Sarah Helser

“Art is always one step behind life—a reflection, a reconstruction, but never the thing itself. It does not bloom or wither, does not tremble in the wind. The artist’s longing to create is real, yet what it yields will always be an echo of something greater, something whole.”

— Sarah Helser

Meet Sarah

I work in acrylic and mixed media, building each painting in layers of pattern, texture, and resin until something emerges that feels both familiar and strange—like a memory from a place I’ve never been, coming through strong and mysterious.

After a fire destroyed my home studio in 2025, I chose to begin again. I now paint from a commercial studio at Dilworth Artisan Station in Charlotte’s South End, where the new body of work—Blue Hour: Sovereign—is unfolding.
